YTL e-Solutions Berhad (YTLE), a subsidiary of YTL Corporation Berhad, today signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Cisco Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Cisco) to establish its WiMAX CORE network in Peninsular Malaysia.

 

Under the agreement, Cisco will build and integrate YTLE's WiMAX CORE network which includes IP CORE, Operating Support Systems, Billing Systems, Proactive Network Operating Centre (PNOC), and IOT labs. The business relationship is in line with YTLE's goal to provide mobile internet services nationwide.

Upon the nationwide commercial service launch in 2009, Malaysians in both urban and rural areas will be able to simultaneously enjoy converged services - mobile voice, data and video with full mobility using personal WiMAX mobile devices over the YTLE's WiMAX network.

In June of this year, YTL e-Solutions Berhad signed a strategic collaboration agreement with XOHM, a broadband business unit of Sprint Nextel. XOHM will bring its global expertise to Malaysia and support us in setting up our WiMAX ecosystem.

 

As you are fully aware, XOHM successfully launched its own WiMAX commercial service in Baltimore. The September 2008 launch has already created waves in the US, particularly for its excellent internet connectivity within Baltimore. XOHM is turning a promise into reality that we will soon have "Mobile Internet Anywhere, Anytime and Anyhow".

 

XOHM's network coverage will soon be extended to other major cities in the USA.

 

It is my pleasure to inform you, we are here today to witness another strategic collaboration agreement with a global leader within the Industry. Cisco will be supporting us in establishing our WiMAX CORE network in Malaysia which includes the components of IP CORE, Operating Support Systems, Billing Systems, IOT labs, and the design and operation of a state-of-the-art Proactive Network Operating Centre (PNOC).

 

Together with Cisco, we will realize our vision to create a WiMAX Centre of Excellence in Malaysia as well as to become a world destination for WiMAX technology development.
