European Commission probing the practices of mobile operators who block or restrict internet telephony (VoIP) applications on their networks

This is a new (public) VoIP/Telecom/Carrier battle in the making. This is where the VoIP/IM battle will be fought. Read further how  "The European Commission is understood to be probing the practices of mobile operators who block or restrict internet telephony (VoIP) applications on their networks.

The EC has sent questionnaires to a number of unidentified European carriers asking for information on their tools and techniques for filtering and blocking VoIP traffic. The assumption is that the authority is looking into whether such activity is in breach of competition law."  source : EC investigates VoIP blocking in mobile ops

Let the true nature of all the parties be revealed. Looks like you got 2 major sides in this game. Those who want you to pay per minute for telephony and those who want you get as much volume as you can for free. Somewhere in between in think you got those that allow voice over data "as long as it is not too much"...

There is no such thing as a free lunch, not even over IP... You got blockers, throttlers, monitors, channellers... All sorts of creatures hiding and lurking along the VoIP road. Don't let the VoIP guys fool you either, they are in it for the money also... Flat fee, flat free, totally free. There is always somebody paying a certain price for the transmission of data. Freeloading costs money also... Bandwidth costs money. Free things cost money too. Maybe not for the one that get's them for free (freeloading) but more like for the one that gives something for free (formerly called marketing, give something for free, to convert users in paying customers...)...

But maybe if you give people something for free, they will always want it for free. So how free is free. What limitations will be put up... And who will put the limitations in place. The game is on. Start wondering how much free traffic you will get on your Mobile Phone For Facebook Lovers

Let is be clear pleaese for the consumer what happens when they buy and Unlocked Apple Ipod (I get regular Chinese Spam on that matter...). Basically I think we want to be able to talk at an affordable, predictable flat fee for a number of hours per month...) over any network, to any network, on any device, with any ID...
