Skypejournal blogged about it again stating « The book is rightfully portrayed as the only official guide to Skype, every chapter reviewed and approved by Skype staffers.» I still have to read that book. I will, from the moment I find it here in the Malaysian Jungle. I have also seen (and I reported this directly to the other and some Skype guy that there are some website where you can download that book for free in PDF of Ebook format, which is actually illegal if you do so. So I am not going to promote this by putting the link here. You should buy it. If you copy software or books, well this is theft. Nothing more, nothing less. Or meaybe they forgot to read this i :

So buy the book. Respect the authors and their hard work. Or maybe they should make the book so cheap that is not worth copying anyways ? Better sell 1000 copies at 1 usd than 100 at 10 usd ? But I guess you have to talk to publisher on that matter…
It looks like a great book, so hopefully it will be available legally available in China, United Arab Emirates and other countries where they don’t have so much book stores like in Europe and the Usa. Somebody said jokingly to me «the Americans do it, the Europeans say and think, the Asian and Chinese copy it. And the Indians will support it.» See the other books I found on Amazon below.

I was just wondering which one of my friends had written a book, so I looked for example for Geert Zonnekeyn, one of my lawyer friends in Belgium and I found out he wrote this. Very handy search feature. http://books.google.com. At this moment we are busy ourselves (Andrew Sheppard and Jan Geirnaert) compiling a book called «Skype for Business». Ideas and tips welcome. Actually interesting to see what has been written on Skype.
"Skype: The Definitive Guide" . “The book is, rightfully, portrayed as the only official guide to Skype (every chapter has been reviewed and approved by Skype Staffers) and, correctly, as written by Skype insiders, Harry Max and Taylor Ray (more on that later this week) with a Foreword by Skype co-founder and CEO Niklas Zennström. “ Source.
It’s good to have books like this. Easy to learn and look up something too. Maybe Skype should have put a stamp on front of it “Skype Certified” or something like that. Would have boosted the sales and credibility.
It is called bypass calling revenue. Interesting.
«The Asian carriers will be losing less revenue next year from Voice over the Internet Protocol (VoIP) bypass, according to Insight Research. International voice telecommunications revenue lost to VoIP bypass is gradually declining, even as total international calling continues to increase.
The study concludes that as Asian telecom companies bring their international rates into line with actual costs, the attractiveness of VoIP as an arbitrage opportunity will diminish, slowing down its adoptation.
In 2004 VoIP bypass calling revenue amounted to slightly more than one-third of the $98 billion spent in China, India, Japan and other Asian countries on international calling. By 2011, VoIP bypass revenue is expected to remain essentially flat at $30 billion, while international call revenue jumps to about $160 billion. Of the 96 billion Asian international calling MOUs expected to be recorded in 2011, only 22.8 billion will be attributable to VoIP.»

So much talk and media hype lately about the Da Vinci Code. Anyways, it is said that Leonardo Da Vinci was a hacker.
What is The Da Vinci Code ? See wikipedia. «
The Da Vinci Code is a mystery/detective novel by American author Dan Brown, published in 2003 by Doubleday Fiction. It is a worldwide bestseller with more than 60.5 million copies in print (as of May 2006) and has been translated into 44 languages. Combining the detective, thriller and conspiracy fiction genres, the book is part two of a trilogy that started with Brown's 2000 novel Angels and Demons, which introduced the character Robert Langdon. In November 2004, Random House published a "Special Illustrated Edition", with 160 illustrations interspersed with the text. It's typically considered to be at a somewhat low reading level; nevertheless, the book remains popular.

Here's a fourth review of Skype Hacks from Amazon.com - from an Amazon top 50 reviewer no less! Verdict: ***** (five stars) and highly recommended. With this review, Skype Hacks has an overall Amazon rating of five stars!
Skype is one of the most popular VOIP applications for the individual user and small office on the market today. If you have already installed it or are considering installing it then you will want this book so you can configure it to work the way you want it to work and head off any problems before they occur. The first thing I have to say about Skype is that it is so user friendly that many of the hacks in this book are unnecessary. It is easy enough to figure out how to make conference calls, transfer calls, forward calls and do various other common tasks. On the other hand, there are a lot of useful tips including how to claim your money back if something goes wrong, avoiding additional mobile phone charges, building a Skype server, working with routers, using Skype at work, working with privacy issues, and add-on products. Because Skype is a peer-to-peer network service it is very important to understand the privacy and security issues and the author does a great job of both explaining them as well as how to work with them. Skype Hacks is highly recommended for advanced computer users or anyone responsible for administering Skype in a business environment.

The Symantec Internet Security Threat Report offers analysis and discussion of threat activity over a six-month period. It covers Internet attacks, vulnerabilities, malicious code, and future trends. The latest report, released March 7, is now available
Symantec Internet Security Threat Report Volume IX: March 2006 | View the Webcast
This volume of the Internet Security Threat Report offers an overview of threat activity that took place between July 1 and December 31, 2005. In this edition, the new threat landscape is shown to be increasingly dominated by attacks and malicious code that are used to commit cybercrime, criminal acts that incorporate a computer or Internet component. Attackers have moved away from large, multipurpose attacks on network perimeters and toward smaller, more focused attacks on client-side targets.
The threat landscape is coming to be dominated by emerging threats such as bot networks and customizable modular malicious code. Targeted attacks on Web applications and Web browsers are increasingly becoming the focal point for cybercriminals. Whereas traditional attack activity has been motivated by curiosity and a desire to show off technical virtuosity, many current threats are motivated by profit. They often attempt to perpetrate criminal acts, such as identity theft, extortion, and fraud, for financial gain.
Over the last six months of 2005, Symantec detected an average of 1,402 Denial of Service (DoS) attacks per day. This is an increase of 51 percent from the first half of 2005, when Symantec detected an average of 927 DoS attacks per day.

Skype Me! : From Single User to Small Enterprise and Beyond found it by going here : skype answering machine. Strange website. Some other good Skype related books here :
I wish Ebay, Amazon would start to use code in book like skype:book123456.sales in their system (temporary authorized, safe sales codes, you can only order as much as the books in stock…). In the future I will read the ISBN-nr. with my mouse or special eye pen the barcode in the book, then I will be redirected to Ebay, Amazon or whatever and they will ask via a friendly voice my creditcard number (safe enough, since encrypted voice channel) and I will buy the book. The whole session will be recorded in video and voice on my computer in an encrypted mp3–file and send to the FBI and to the Skype Fraude manager for voice-stress analysis theft of creditcard by entities that stole/hacked an Ebay or Amazon Skype IDin case of fraude. Well as long as I get my book delivery via DHL or another courier it’s fine by me.

I never liked to read pdf-documents by the way. So always happy to read on paper. By the way I was the one printing out all those pdf-pages on the company laserjet; Yes I admit. Hehehe. Just received this morning the book on Skype Hacks from Andrew Sheppard. Really interesting. It is the reference book that every Skype nerd should be reading and there will be a new one called «Skype for Dummies». Should be a big success with all those people out there using Skype.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is gaining a lot of attention these days, as more companies and individuals switch from standard telephone service to phone service via the Internet. The reason is simple: A single network to carry voice and data is easier to scale, maintain, and administer. As an added bonus, it's also cheaper, because VoIP is free of the endless government regulations and tariffs imposed upon phone companies.
